High-Interest/Low-Reading-Level Books
Make struggling readers successful readers with titles designed to be accessible for students reading at least two years below grade level. High-interest fiction and informational topics hold the imagination and interest of below-grade-level readers. Titles are specifically designed with age-appropriate, sophisticated covers and short, manageable chapters; carefully-chosen vocabulary; realistic dialogue; and strong graphical and text-to-illustration support.
Variety of Text Types, Genres, and Topics
Fiction and informational collections include a variety of text types and genres--historical fiction, realistic fiction, myths and folktales, biographies, narrative nonfiction, mystery, sports, humor, adventure, graphic novels, and retellings of classic literature. Curricular aligned topics teach important content while developing content-area literacy skills.
Title-Specific Teaching Support (for Complete Packages only, not included with Sampler Sets)
Most titles in each collection include title-specific lesson support with resources and reproducbiles to teach standards-based comprehension and vocabulary skills--skill practice, strategy practice and instruction, and formative and summative assessment.
Carefully Leveled Texts
Each level in the program is organized by Lexile ranges to enable teachers to select titles at the appropriate reading levels to meet the diverse needs of struggling readers.
